WILNET spoke with Luisella Pavan Woolfe, Head of the European Union (EU) delegation to the Council of Europe (CoE), who has extensive experience working with the European institutions.

Luisella divulges how a career at the EU institutions involves much work operating at the interface of EU and international law, while also offering encouraging information about their ‘family-friendly’ workplace rights.

Luisella has had a fascinating career, blending her many roles with her passion for the pursuit of gender equality, and the elimination of discrimination, something which she directly addressed in her role as Director for Antidiscrimination, Equality between women and men and Civil Society at the European Commission. She reminds us not to become complacent when it comes to the pursuit of gender equality, encouraging all international lawyers not to forget the feminist agenda.

Her words will provide much encouragement to both budding and early career international lawyers.
